Message from Executive Director

In Bangladesh Human Rights not only are distended but also are denied for historical and cultural reasons to Dalit communities. All these disruptions in Bangladesh are directly or indirectly linked to violence. Unfortunately, violence is a common feature of Bangladeshi society. In it the worst sufferers are the outcaste dalits community people. In Bangladesh amount 10 million dalits belongs to various dalits groups.

Dalits have always been and still are subjected to intense socio-economic discrimination. They face discrimination in their access to basic services such as health, education, housing, government safety net programs. govt. and no govt. services and other services.

In the aim of recognition, establishment and protection on the human rights of dalits Parittran and Bangladesh Dalit Parishad mobilized to dalit people with demand of ant discrimination law since 1998 through first observing international day for the elimination of racial discrimination at Nawapara under Satkhira District. Thereafter this demand has been coming out the first need to address dalit right in Bangladesh and prepared 10 demand as campaign tools. Parittran and Bangladesh Dalit Parishad mobilizing on the issue of anti-discrimination law through Massive Mobilization at Local and Nation Level, Dalit Campaign through Rally, Human Chain, Street Interactive Drama, Human rights monitoring and fact findings, memorandum submission to concerned ministry and govt. authority, long March, Protest Gathering against dalit violence, Signature campaign, Policy advocacy and national level workshop seminar, mobilize the parliamentarians, Round table discussion, Media Mobilization, Publications and distribution, Education Support, Livelihood Support as it is, Aside these Parittran as the very community led organization helping Bangladesh Dalit Parishad at 54 District in Bangladesh and building capacity of that leaders of Bangladesh Dalit Parishad for strengthen dalit movement in Bangladesh. Parittran also working for disadvantaged peoples through its different program like Climate change adaption, mitigation and Disaster Risk Reduction, Livelihood and Food Security, Legal Aid for Survivors and campaign of Domestic Violence Protection and Protest rules, Good Governance Right to Information Act, Birth Registration Act etc., Sexual Reproduction Health Rights and SGBV, Women and Child Rights Education for excluded children, Adolescent development Program, Participatory Action Research as it is since 1993. Through the implemented activities it is impacted to brings positive change in Dalit & Excluded lives.

Parittran is pleased to publish case studies on the positive changes in the lives of dalit communities in Bangladesh. We are giving honored and gratitude to all contributors those who has given recognition to dalits and excluded people. We also gratitude to all warrior whose are contributing a lot for improvement of dalit, women and children lives as the development partners of Parittran.
